About Oceanova
Oceanova is developing AI-driven marine biosecurity solutions to detect and monitor invasive species using Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), and advanced camera systems. Our machine learning models require high-quality labeled datasets to improve real-time species identification, mapping, and monitoring.
We are looking for two data annotation specialists to assist in labeling marine imagery and video footage to train our AI models. This role is crucial to ensuring accurate detection of invasive species, including Caulerpa and other biosecurity threats, by creating high-quality training datasets for AI-driven recognition systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually label and classify images and videos of marine species for AI training.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in data annotations according to established guidelines.
- Work closely with machine learning engineers to refine datasets and improve model performance.
- Assist in developing annotation standards and taxonomies for various marine species and biosecurity threats.
- Conduct quality control checks on labeled data to maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Help expand and curate datasets by selecting high-quality imagery from various sources.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to distinguish between marine species and environmental elements.
- Experience using data labeling tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, or similar platforms.
- Ability to follow strict annotation guidelines and maintain consistency in dataset labeling.
- Comfortable working with large datasets and repetitive tasks while ensuring precision.
- Basic understanding of marine biology, biosecurity, or aquatic ecosystems is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI/ML datasets and image processing is an advantage but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in data annotation, GIS mapping, or biological research.
- Familiarity with marine biosecurity regulations and species identification.
- Experience working with underwater imagery and ROV footage.
Why Join Oceanova?
- Contribute to a cutting-edge AI and biosecurity project with real-world impact.
- Flexible remote work opportunity with a focus on innovation and technology.
- Be part of a growing team dedicated to marine conservation and AI-driven solutions.
- Competitive contract rates and potential for future work in AI model training and marine data analytics.
